Technical ceramics and wood pellets rarely appear in the same sentence. Yet companies from Mezdra and Bosilegrad are working towards the same goal – improving efficiency, making better use of resources and remaining competitive in an increasingly dynamic economic environment.
This shared ambition brings together Techceramic-M AD from Mezdra and INAK DOO from Bosilegrad through the CBComepetRegion project, “Product Investments in Techceramic-M AD and INAK DOO to Support the Competitiveness of SMEs in the Cross-Border Region”, funded under the Interreg VI-A IPA Bulgaria–Serbia 2021–2027 Programme.
With a budget of more than €337,000, the project enables both partners to invest in modern equipment and technologies that will contribute to more efficient production, better resource utilisation and increased competitiveness. Over the next year, the companies will work to modernise their production processes, improve efficiency and support the sustainable growth of their businesses on both sides of the border.
Techceramic-M is an established manufacturer of technical ceramic products used across a range of industries, including mechanical engineering, metal casting and electronics. Its Serbian partner, INAK DOO, operates in the field of wood processing and pellet production. Despite working in different sectors, the two companies share a common commitment to modernisation, higher productivity and sustainable growth.
But competitiveness today is no longer measured solely by production capacity or new machinery.
Increasingly, success depends on how efficiently companies use their resources, how quickly they adapt to changing market demands and how effectively they respond to growing expectations for sustainable production. This is why the project goes beyond investment in equipment and also includes opportunities for knowledge sharing and cooperation between the Bulgarian and Serbian partners.
Among the planned activities is a business conference that will bring together entrepreneurs and experts to discuss topics such as the circular economy, sustainable business models and efficient resource management – areas that are playing an increasingly important role in shaping business competitiveness.
The same approach is reflected in the “Think Green” initiative. Alongside tree-planting activities and efforts to raise environmental awareness, the project will explore opportunities for introducing more sustainable production practices and improving resource efficiency across the cross-border region.
Implemented under Priority 1 “Competitive Border Region”, the project demonstrates how cooperation between businesses from Bulgaria and Serbia can contribute to a stronger, more sustainable and better connected regional economy.
CBComepetRegion shows that long-term competitiveness is built not only through investment in technology, but also through partnerships, knowledge exchange and a willingness to embrace new approaches that help businesses meet the challenges of a changing economy.
